John Zapanta, PT, DPT
Board Certified Orthopaedic Physical Therapist & Fellow, American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists
Dr. Zapanta received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Regis University in Denver, CO. He completed an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency program in Scottsdale, AZ. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (OCS) and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). Dr. Zapanta’s clinical interests are in the management of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and cardiopulmonary conditions while integrating a patient-centered hands-on approach to rehabilitation. He annually presents at state and national conferences and participates in expanding healthcare access locally and globally. He is an adjunct faculty of Physical Therapy at South College in Knoxville, TN & faculty with the NeuroRecovery Training Institute (NRTI).
Dr. Zapanta is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (AAOMPT). He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS). He has had trainings in LSVT BIG and is a certified PWR!Therapist which are high intensive whole body amplitude-based training regimes for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease as well as other neuromuscular & orthopaedic conditions.
Professionally, he is involved with the APTA on the state and national level by serving as the Delegate at Large for the APTA Colorado (2015-2017). A life-long member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit Universities, Dr. Zapanta is distinguished in scholarship, excellence, and service. He was awarded the Doctor of Physical Therapy Excellence in Service Award from Regis University in 2012. Dr. Zapanta’s passions include transforming healthcare quality and providing a comprehensive evidence based approach that allows people to reclaim back their health and to allow people to reconnect back to themselves, to community, and to nature. In his free time, you can find John exploring the beautiful Colorado trails by foot, skiis, board, or bike or you may just find him enjoying a fine cup of tea.
